Building Dynamic Groups

Building Dynamic Groups

Dynamic groups can be used to organize contacts based off of certain criteria are determined by the results of an IQA. You may use dynamic groups for things like newsletter recipients, specific member types, security roles, and much more.

  1. To create a dynamic group, you’ll first start by creating an IQA with the criteria for members that should be in the group.
  2. Once you’ve created the IQA, go to the ‘Group’ tab. This tab is where you will name your dynamic group and choose how often you want the group to be refreshed to include new members.
    • Name your group.
    • Select the Contact Key Column, which is the main ID or Contact Key of your IQA.
    • From the dropdown, select how often you’d like this group to refresh: every day, every week, every month, or no schedule (where you would have to then refresh manually).
    • A good way to decide how often to schedule is to think about how often you get new members added and if it would be more beneficial to run it daily or maybe monthly if you don’t get a lot of members joining on a regular basis.
    • Click ‘Create Group’ and ‘Save’ your IQA.
  3. To find groups that have been created and view members in that group, you can go to Community > Groups > Select ‘Dynamic Groups’ from the query selection drop down.
  4. You can then click on the group name to open a list of members included in that group.
